Wilson's fame spread to America during 2014 when she was a guest in Showtimes The Affair. She was Alison Lockhart, a young woman with a troubled relationship with her past, and is drawn to Noah Solloway. The show that also stars Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson was a hit with critics as well as viewers and won Wilson a Golden Globe for Best Actress in an Television Series Drama in 2015. I loved the opportunity to portray a character with two perspectives Wilson stated to British Vogue in 2015. Noah imagines Alison's sexy, confident, irresponsible sexy side. Yet, Alison perceives herself in an entirely different way. In reality, she is dowdy. The actress added: "I do believe America is morally and judging and therefore what transpires on the show seems to be shocking." Wilson quit the show, in shock for viewers. But Wilson did not provide further specifics. In a CBS This Morning Interview in August of 2018, Wilson stated, "I did want to quit, but I'm unable to speak about that led me to leave." Wilson is currently focusing her efforts on films. In 2016, she appeared as the Pretty Thing in the house in the horror movie I Am the Pretty Thing. And in 2017, appeared as the cryptic PT Stella, in the sci fi rom com How to Talk to Girls in Parties. In addition to her list of horror films Wilson will be a part in the British movie adaptation to The Little Stranger. The supernatural thriller is based on the Sarah Waters' novel. Wilson will also be in charge of the production.
